The Things People Pay For

"Singles Ward," "The Home Teachers," "The R.M."…Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, the guys at the bad idea factory came up with this. The only downside to a free market is stupid consumers that create a niche for this swill.

A Sad Story

About a week ago one of the hens here on the farm emerged from a long absence with eight yellow cheeping and peeping chicks.
On Tuesday I came to work and saw Momma Hen (aka Ethyl) with only two chicks cheeping and peeping. The night before someone had unknowingly set the water on Momma Hen's nest and frozen six formerly cheeping and peeping chicks.
Today I came to work and saw one little chick cheeping but not peeping. And then I saw BLOOD and FEATHERS and more BLOOD and FEATHERS and then a DEAD Momma Hen and a space where the other chick would have been if it hadn't been EATEN.
One little orphan chick who likely won't last the weekend.

And so it goes.

I was just reading Nanette's post on "Elleisms" and felt it appropriate to point out the uncanny resemblance between the philosopher Elle and the philosopher Plato.

How to NOT to sell your stuff

Scene: Liz at the Gardner's Market carrying a tote she made herself (you know, to carry the produce she buys at the market)

Lady selling totes: Hey! Another bag lady!
Liz: Um, yeah.
Lady selling totes: My bags look better than that!
Liz: [stares blankly at Lady Selling Totes and then to the ugly (though perhaps better constructed) old lady totes she is selling and then walks away offended.]

Wind River Range

We went backpacking in the Wind River Range in WY. The Winds are one of the greatest and least known mountain ranges in the U.S.

We had a great time hanging out in the mountains with our friends Kyle, Angela, and Roxanne. Check out our pictures. We did some great day hikes and enjoyed what looked like some great fishing.
