Please Blog With Me

Today is the day we share with the world a tasty recipe of our choosing. Just choose something good because today is the first ever Good Food Friday. Hooray!! Can you hear the trumpets? See the fireworks? Feel the good food rocking your world? I know you have something to share. So, sisters, friends, countrymen-please, start your blogging.

My choice this week is a new (to me) recipe, with lots of flavor. If you like bland food, you probably shouldn't try this one.

Well, here goes!

Ginger Sesame Noodles with Broccoli
serves 4

2 tablespoons tahini
1 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoon mirin (I didn’t use it – right or wrong, I used chicken broth instead)
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
¼ cup tamari
2 tablespoons water
12 oz. linguine
8 oz. broccoli floret or asparagus (or both) cut into 1 inch pieces
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
1 tablespoon canola oil
2 cloves minced garlic
2 tablespoons minced ginger
Toasted sesame seeds

In small bowl, combine tahini, brown sugar, mirin, and red pepper flakes until blended and set aside. Cook pasta according to directions in large pot. Cook pasta about five minutes and then add the broccoli, continue cooking until just tender. Drain and rinse with cold water then toss with sesame oil. Meanwhile heat the canola oil in a large skillet or wok. Add the garlic and ginger and stir-fry until fragrant. Add noodles, broccoli and sauce and toss to combine –cook until heated through. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve.

(Note: I didn’t cook quite as much pasta as the recipe calls for, but then didn’t think to adjust the sauce. It was a little strong, but still good.)

Clearly I am going to have to practice my food photography

New Movie: Middle of Nowhere

As far as I can tell, the middle of nowhere is really only good for engaging in activities that are against the law or break societal norms. This is most likely the reason why you see a higher number of “crazies” per capita in the middle of nowhere, than in any other place.

Check out our latest production, Middle of Nowhere, in the sidebar. I should say that I came across this footage at random and have no idea when it was shot, where it was shot, who shot it, or who was driving. I can say that those guys must be pretty cool. Enjoy!

New Movie: BUSTED

Heading home after a long day of skiing, we came across this amazing mishap! Apparently this guy was swerving all over the road and couldn’t quit negotiate this turn. We saw this guy up on the hill and he skis about as well as he drives. The most entertaining part of this whole thing is that the guy looks just like Napoleon Dynamite! Fortunately no one was hurt and I’m pretty sure the guy ended up with a DUI.

Checkout the footage in the sidebar.

Husbands Say the Darndest Things

Just a couple of days ago my sister-in-law put up a post about my brother whispering sweet craziness during the night. In her post she says, "My all time favorite story of Chris is when we were first married. One night, he rolled over and gave me a big hug then said, 'Maybe if we format it, it'll be alright.'

I love it, that story cracks me up every time - it is just so Chris.

Well, last night my ever obliging husband gave me one of his own. I was twisting and turning in bed trying to get comfortable when Derek's sleepy self grumpily says to me, "Careful, I'm a Super Delegate." Pardon me, if I had known I had a Super Delegate in my bed, I would have been more careful.

Holy Stinkin' Moly

I win! That's right, I am a winner. I am the winningest winner who ever did win. Who knew winning felt so good? It's not like I've never experienced the sweet taste of victory before - in highschool I did win a rad keychain at the Shakespearean Festival - but, wow, winning key baubles sure pales in comparison to winning electronics.

Be jealous, that sweet baby is mine.
